Why choose NYC Therapeutic Wellness

When you’re choosing which trauma therapist to work with, it’s important to find the right fit. Here are some reasons to consider NYC Therapeutic Wellness.

  • We offer both in-person and online therapy. Some people enjoy the convenience of online therapy and the ability to talk about hard things from the comfort of their own homes. Others prefer a dedicated space to process traumatic experiences separate from their day-to-day lives. Since we offer both virtual and in-person therapy, you can choose whichever one best suits your needs.
  • We have a diverse team of therapists. Our therapists come from a wide range of different personal and professional backgrounds, and each has their own unique approach. This enables you to identify with a therapist with whom you can establish a genuine connection for healing from these traumatic events.
  • We customize your care. We’re trained in a variety of talk therapy methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and many more. Our PTSD therapists will customize your treatment plan to your specific needs, goals, and preferences, using a blend of evidence-based practices to help you recover.

Still not sure whether we’re the right fit for you? Contact us today to request your complimentary consultation.

When another practice may be a better fit for your needs

We want to help as many people heal from trauma as possible. However, our practice might not be the best fit for everyone. Here are some signs you might work better with someone else.

  • You’re looking for free therapy. While we recognize that cost can be a barrier for some people, we’re unable to offer free PTSD therapy at this time. However, we offer several financing options, including reimbursement through insurance, CareCredit financing, and more to make therapy as accessible as possible.
  • You’re located outside of New York. We serve people at our office in Midtown Manhattan and throughout the state of New York via virtual therapy. However, some of our therapists are licensed to practice in different states. If you’re interested in working together and live out of state, contact us to see whether we can help.
  • You’re not ready to commit to the process. Trauma therapy takes time, patience, and commitment in order to be truly effective. If you’re not ready to dive in, we understand. It’s a vulnerable process that can be difficult to start (even though it’s completely worth it). We’ll be here for you when you are ready to engage.

FAQs about working with a trauma therapist in NYC

What is the best therapy for trauma?

Therapists use many different techniques to help people heal from trauma. Our therapists are trained in several different approaches, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based techniques, strengths-based therapy, and many more.

Other therapists might use techniques like eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) or cognitive processing therapy (CPT) to help people process trauma. We recommend looking into some different methods and seeing which ones resonate most with you. Your therapist can also help you identify which techniques may work best for your situation.

Is trauma therapy worth it?

Yes, trauma therapy is absolutely worth it. Upon experiencing any type of trauma, it may seem as though a lasting change has occurred, making it feel impossible to return to one’s former self. Collaboratively, we will navigate and process your experience, impart coping skills, and assist you in constructing a life that brings you fulfillment.

How many years does it take to heal from trauma?

The path to healing varies for each individual. Some individuals experience relief after only a few sessions while for others, the process of healing can extend from months to years.
