Why choose NYC Therapeutic Wellness for your family therapy sessions

It’s important to be intentional when choosing the best family therapist for your needs. Here are a few reasons to consider working with NYC Therapeutic Wellness. If you’re still unsure whether we’re the right fit, we encourage you to contact us for your free consultation.

We’re dedicated to helping you and your family members achieve real, lasting results.

We want to help you and your family find meaningful change. While this won’t happen overnight, it’s entirely possible when you dedicate the time and energy. We’ve seen it firsthand with the families we’ve helped in our practice. Your therapist will help you and your loved ones find the root causes of your issues. From here, you’ll be able to find tangible solutions to help you have a happier, more fulfilling life.

We can meet in whichever way works best for your family.

We know that family life is busy, and it can be difficult to make time to meet. We honor the fact that you’re carving time out of your hectic schedule by making it as convenient as possible to attend therapy sessions. We hold in-person sessions at our office in Midtown Manhattan, and we also offer phone and video sessions if you’d rather not make the commute.

We offer more than just family therapy.

Since we’re a group practice, your whole family can get the support they need outside of family therapy sessions. Our clinicians also offer individual therapy and couples counseling. This can be especially helpful if one family member is experiencing mental health struggles, or if you want to work on your relationship with your partner outside of your family sessions.

When NYC Therapeutic Wellness may not be the best fit for you and your family members

Deciding which family therapist is right for you is highly personal and depends on your family’s needs, values, and goals. Here are some situations in which we may recommend working with a different practice.

You’re looking for no-cost therapy.

We recognize that many families have significant financial barriers that prevent them from getting help. Unfortunately, we cannot offer no-cost therapy at this time. We recommend reaching out to your local mental health organization or affinity group if you’re looking for this option.

However, we do accept several different payment methods in an effort to make family therapy accessible to as many people as possible. We accept insurance benefits on an out-of-network basis and can submit claims directly to your insurance company. We also offer sliding scale rates and financing through CareCredit.

You’re looking for a generic, one-size-fits-all approach.

We believe that family therapy is most effective when it’s customized to your family’s unique situation. While the idea of quick fixes or formulas to achieve certain results is appealing, this isn’t what we offer at NYC Therapeutic Wellness.

Instead, we work closely with the whole family to identify the source of the issue at hand. This is different for every family, and so are the solutions that we’ll create together.

You’re not ready to make changes yet.

Starting family therapy is a significant investment of your time, energy, and resources. We understand how daunting this can be, especially if you’ve never tried therapy before.

Some families aren’t fully ready to commit to the process, and that’s okay. However, our family therapists need everyone to be on the same page in order to do their job effectively. If you’re not sure whether your family is ready for this next step, schedule a consultation to see whether our services are right for you.

FAQs about family therapy in Brooklyn, New York

What is the difference between family counseling and family therapy?

The terms “family counseling” and “family therapy” are often used interchangeably. They both refer to a service that aims to help families build stronger relationships and work through challenges together.

In some cases, people may use the term “family counselor” as a generic term to describe any kind of professional who works with families, whether or not they actually a licensed therapist.

At NYC Therapeutic Wellness, all of our family therapists are highly-trained mental health professionals who are certified to practice in the state of New York.

What therapy is best for family issues?

There are many different methods of family counseling, so it’s important to do some research and see which ones resonate most with your family’s situation. You don’t need to be an expert in each approach, but having a general understanding can help you choose the Brooklyn family therapist that’s right for you.

Our family counselors use a combination of methods, like CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic therapy, and more. We’ll work directly with you and your family members to create a treatment plan that’s customized to your needs and goals.

No matter which specific approach your family therapist takes, know that we’re committed to making each session a safe space for you and your loved ones to feel supported and work through your struggles together.

What is the success rate of family counseling?

It’s difficult to say exactly how successful family counseling is. Research shows how effective it can be, and our Brooklyn family therapists have seen how much it can help. At the same time, the idea of “success” is relative to each family’s specific goals.

Counseling can help you and your loved ones navigate family transitions, work through communication issues, learn concrete tools to reduce conflict, and generally have more peace in your family life. We’ve also helped families with a number of different challenges, so if you don’t see your goal listed here, we encourage you to reach out for a consultation regardless.
